Volvo officials are proud that the Volvo’s three-point safety belt has been accepted to be displayed at The Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C. Myers will be more confident about their vehicle choice after hearing this exciting news. The group of people who are probably the most excited to hear about this event may be the sales representatives at Volvo dealers, as the information will be useful when providing assistance to Ft. Myers Volvo S80 shoppers. Sales teams will be proud to inform the consumer that the famous safety belt will help represent 75 years of safety-enhancement work in the automobile industry.

Volvo has earned its spot in automobile history with Nils Bohlin creating the three-point safety belt, which was first released on August 13, 1959. Ft. Myers Volvo XC90 dealers are excited to have Bohlin’s renovation honored and displayed in one of the world’s most respected and distinguished institutions. Some consumers may ask, “What makes this seat belt so special? Why has this safety precaution been selected to be viewed by four million visitors a year?” Since its release, the three point belt has played an important role in helping to save hundreds of thousands of lives and prevented or reduced the severity of injuries among millions of drivers and passengers. Still not impressed? The three-point safety belt has been identified by German patent registrars as one of the eight patents to have the greatest significance for humanity from 1885 to 1985. Just imagine: back in 1959, only “two-point” seatbelts were featured in automobiles. The so-called “diagonal belt” was designed for the belt buckle to be positioned at the height of the passenger’s ribcage, which meant that the buckle damaged the body’s soft organs instead of protecting them. Hence, along comes Bohlin with his remarkable “three-point” design. If that doesn’t spell out “revolutionary” to you, perhaps you need to do your own research on the matter – or simply consult historians at The Smithsonian.

Consumers shopping for a Volvo S80 in Ft. Myers should know that Volvo’s three-point safety belt’s acceptance into the accredited museum was a long and complex process involving the previous owner and the factory, in order to verify its authenticity. The three-point safety belt is displayed with the original seat of a 1961 Volvo PV 544. For more information, consumers can visit their favorite Volvo dealer or even take a trip to The Smithsonian to view the display for themselves.

Volvo will soon be officially under new ownership and this deal promises to both improve and expand the Volvo brand. Geely, a Chinese company will now own the Volvo brand and since the new president will keep former president Hans-Olov Olsson as vice chairman, Volvo can only improve. Volvo will retain its reliability while increasing production and innovation thanks to Geely. Volvo plans to create a larger presence in countries such as China in order to increase worldwide sales.

The combination of the already significant presence in the United States with a new presence in China should give Volvo the boost it needs to continue producing fantastic automobiles like the Volvo S60. The newest Volvo S60 debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with high hopes. Volvo completely redesigned the S60 with a plan for it to rival cars such as the BMW 3-series and the Audi A4. Ft. Myers Volvo S60 dealers believe the newly designed model will fare well against its competitors.

The S60 comes in a variety of engines and transmissions depending on driver interest and location. The engines range from 1.6 liter petrol turbo to a 2.4 liter turbodiesel. Transmissions include a 6 speed manual, 6 speed automatic and 6 speed Powershift options. The S60 will also come equipped with a Pedestrian Detection feature to improve the safety of the vehicle.

Volvo also has plans for the S40 model in the 2011 model year. This four door sedan was redesigned in 2008 to look fresh and modern and 2011 holds even more for this car. The S40 will be available with a range of new engines in 2011. These new engines were created to improve the performance of the S40 as well as meet Euro emission standards. Ft. Myers Volvo S40 dealers look forward to the debut of this new model in the next year.

The updates to these Volvo vehicles are only the beginning of the fresh face of Volvo. While Volvo vehicles have always been dependable, the automaker now has the force behind it to become one of the top contenders in the car world. For more information on Volvo visit the company website or your local Volvo dealership.

Myers Volvo S60 lovers who have been waiting for the car company to unleash their latest creation will not have to wait any longer: the new 2011 Volvo S60 is making its way into dealership lots by the end of this year. Consumers looking for a used C70 in Ft. Myers will have to take a gander at the new S60 before making their decision.

When I first set my eyes on the new Volvo S60, I must admit I was very attracted to the new sleek style and modern design. After all, with a name such as “the all-new naughty Volvo,” who could resist test driving the new model for themselves? Personally, I am a fan of the mid- and large-sized sedans, and the new Volvo S60 is no exception. The car company retains its classy design with its trademark “floating” center stack control panel, a feature that is sure to attract many consumers other than myself.

Many Ft. Myers used C70 drivers are concerned about safety, and Volvo has not let their shoppers down. The car company is heavily promoting its one-of-a-kind Pedestrian Detection System – a safety technology with full auto brake that is able to detect pedestrians over 31 inches tall and supplies full braking power even when the driver takes no action to halt the vehicle. What a relief for Ft. Myers Volvo S60 owners: the system can bring the S60 to a full stop if traveling less than 21 mph, and will reduce the severity of potential impact at higher speeds. I know the last thing I need is to be sued by a pedestrian because I neglected to pay attention while on the road. With the Pedestrian Detection System on this “naughty” Volvo (although this safety system contradicts the connotation of the description), any driver will be reassured that their vehicle has got their back.

The 2011 Volvo S60 will be available with only a 300-horsepower turbocharged inline-6 engine with all-wheel-drive at first. Sometime later, the Volvo will release new S60s equipped with a front-wheel-drive version of the same engine. Soon afterward, a T5 trim version with a turbocharged inline-five engine that produces 227 horsepower will finally be available as well. All engine types will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. For more details about the new 2011 Volvo S60, consumers can visit their local Volvo dealer to consult a sales team member or take a test drive.

In a perfect world, we wouldn’t have to worry about things like pollution or emissions. We could drive vehicles that left no impact on the environment and everyone would live and drive in perfect harmony. Unfortunately we all know this isn’t the case and our vehicles do currently produce emissions. Most emissions talk by car companies and the media is about C02, but the folks at the Ft. Myers Volvo S60 dealer know that this isn’t the only vehicle emission to worry about. That’s why they’re proud that Volvo has launched their Emissions Equality Campaign.

The reason behind this campaign is simple – Volvo would like to see more of an emphasis on non-CO2 emissions because as they see it these are the ones that matter. These non-CO2 emissions include Nitrogen Oxide (NOX), hydrocarbon, and particulates and they are critical because they threaten people’s health today, as opposed to CO2 which threatens the environment in the long-term picture.

Volvo proposes that in order to get the word out on these harmful emissions, a labeling system should be put into place which would require manufacturers to show the emissions data (CO2 and otherwise) for their vehicles. Volvo points out that this data is already available for all cars since 2001 so it should not be difficult to create the labeling system.

Now that we know what Volvo wants to do, the issue of how are they going to get this list out to the public remains and one surprising idea they’ve had is through the smart phone! Volvo has created an App which will show owners and potential buyers exactly what the real tailpipe emissions are. (Maybe this shouldn’t come as a surprise since smart phones can do virtually anything these days.)

While we can’t live in a perfect world, Volvo will continue to strive to get as close to perfect vehicles as possible. For more information on their Emissions Equality Campaign, visit the Ft. Myers Volvo S60 dealer. While you’re there, test drive one their many great vehicles in stock, such as a used C70. Ft. Myers dealers know what is important to their customers and will make sure you drive home in the car of your dreams, without releasing harmful emissions!

Consumers shopping for a new Volvo S60 in Ft. Myers will not have to wait much longer. Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA), announced that they will launch a Naughty Volvo Tour to introduce the new 2011 Volvo S60. The tour will visit Volvo dealerships across the United States and Canada, starting in July and finishing in the fall. Owners of a Volvo S80 in Ft. Myers may want to consider trading in their vehicle once they set their eyes on this new beauty.

The manufacturers at Volvo have equipped the new S60 with a 300-horsepower six-cylinder T6 engine with all-wheel-drive, achieving a fuel economy of 18 city/26 highway mpg. But what will have Volvo lovers drooling is the new sleek and smooth design – curvy edges and flowing lines replace the simplicity of older models. Consumers can choose from many attractive colors and body styling packages that are offered with the new S60, something that Ft. Myers Volvo S80 owners may want to learn more about, not to mention a variety of leather upholstery styles.

While all these features sound appealing, Volvo is heavily promoting the first ever Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake technology. What does this mean for Ft. Myers Volvo S60 drivers? How about never having to worry about being sued by a pedestrian who was injured by their vehicle? Volvo’s radar and camera-based system will detect pedestrians in front of the car and warn the driver if someone walks in his or her path. Furthermore, the system will automatically activate the vehicle’s full braking power if the driver fails to step on the brakes in a timely manner. Fortunately, I’ve never hit a pedestrian, but you never know who will pop into your blind spot, or if your feet aren’t as quick as you thought they were.

I would say that Volvo will not have to do much work to promote the new S60, especially with this newly added technology. Nevertheless, the Naughty Volvo Tour will allow spectators to observe the new Volvo S60 and view demonstrations of the Pedestrian Detection system before the model hits dealership lots nationwide. The rest of us will have to wait in agony to see the new model when it arrives in dealership lots.

As far as the exterior is concerned, the 2010 Volvo XC60 is worth a gander. The new vehicle is the first of Volvo’s models to feature the large trapezoidal grille with the Volvo iron mark with two “DNA lights.” While these are not Volvo-original lights, the new design gives the crossover vehicle a one-of-a-kind look. Owners of a Volvo S60 in Ft. Myers should check out the new design for themselves by visiting their local Volvo dealer.

But that’s just the front of the exterior. The “DNA lights” add to the “V” shaped accents featured on the hood and rear as well. The rear features a modern look, which is sure to appeal to Volvo’s young-adult demographic. Something I found very interesting – and an intelligent move by Volvo – was the addition of two brake lights on the lower bumper, which light up if the driver suddenly steps on the brakes very hard. This can prove very helpful for highway drivers, as sudden stops can be very dangerous. With the extra brake lights, drivers have an extra warning that 2010 Volvo XC60 in front of them is coming to a halt. Smart move by Volvo, as safety is a top concern for many consumers.

While the exterior of the 2010 Volvo XC60 will get many Volvo lovers drooling, other consumers and Ft. Myers used C70 drivers will want to know what is under the hood. The crossover is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine that produces 281 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission. Consumers shopping for a new Volvo, or just want to test drive the new crossover for themselves, should visit their local Volvo dealer as soon as possible.

It’s summer time and the sun is shining (as if it doesn’t shine year-round here in Florida). But what does this mean to me? It’s time to drop my top –my convertible top that is! And this year Volvo has just the car to help me do this and look good at the same time, the 2010 Volvo C70.

The C70 marked Volvo’s movement away from the “boxy but good” reputation of industrial styling and it has become known as a leading vehicle from the automaker. This four-seat convertible is not the rag top of yesteryear. It’s modern and edgy and can go from top up to top down (and vice versa) with just the touch of a button! Unlike older drop-tops, this convertible features a retractable hard-top which provides the safety and structural integrity that is often desired, but allows for the coveted “wind-blowing through the hair” feelings as well. That’s something I can appreciate!

Some critics are quick to try and point out the downsides of a convertible, such as noise, safety, and cargo space. I already talked about the C70’s superior safety (thanks to that retractable hardtop), and the Volvo C70 successfully proves the naysayers wrong in the other arenas as well! Unlike some other convertibles, the C70 has 12.8 cubic feet of storage space and offers a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride when the top is up. Not many other car companies can boast that about their convertibles!

Starting at just $39,950, the Volvo C70 is a great way to start out summer, but it’s not the only car available from Volvo dealers here in Ft. Myers! Volvo S40 is a great option for drivers who don’t want a convertible, while those who do need more space should consider the crossover Volvo XC60. Ft. Myers leading dealer, DeVoe Volvo, has all of these vehicles and more! Stop in today to test drive any of their leading vehicles including the Ft. Myers Volvo S40, the XC60, or V50! No matter what your automotive needs may be, DeVoe Volvo has just the car for you. But if you’re anything like me and just want a car to help make Florida driving even more enjoyable, the C70 is the perfect choice for you!

Drivers of a Volvo XC60 in Ft. Myers have probably wondered what the car company’s newest creation will be. Well Volvo lovers, the wait is over – a new concept car has been developed, and may very well hit production within the next five years. After all, who knows how competitive the automotive industry will be by then? By the looks of this new concept design, Volvo lovers will drool at the sight of the attractive model at Volvo dealership lots.

Shoppers looking for a Volvo S40 in Ft. Myers should check out the latest concept vehicle, as it could very well be their next choice when they decide to purchase a new car. The designer of the new creation is Nouphone J. Bansasine, who designed the vehicle during an internship at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center (VMCC). This means that the vehicle was legitimately created under the supervision of manufacturers and officials at Volvo. Why wouldn’t the car company use the design for future production?

Bansasine intended his car for the four-door sports car category for the year 2015, and I must admit it is quite an attractive piece. Owners of a Volvo S40 in Ft. Myers may agree that the design is quite sleek and stylish with its narrow build (that is, the overall design is more flat than that of the S40), not to mention thin headlights. The roof blends in with the rear window and trunk with no dips or angles to separate the two sections of the model. Consumers looking for a larger vehicle with more hauling power should probably consider a Volvo XC60 in Ft. Myers.

The manufacturers at Volvo would be very wise to adopt Bansasine’s contribution, paving the way for the future of model designing. When I look at photos I think, “futuristic, cutting edge, and intelligent.” I very much admire Bansasine’s talent and eye for automotive design – I’m not sure I could create something so appealing to the consumer’s eye and with a futuristic touch. The only question left on my mind is, “what sort of equipment will Volvo install under the hood?” and “what about interior features and new infotainment software?” Looks like consumers will just have to wait until future auto shows to see what Volvo has in store for this concept – that is, if they plan to let it influence their line of upcoming vehicles.

Volvo is taking great steps to improve their vehicles set to debut in 2011. The automaker is focusing on what is important to car buyers today; cost and performance. A large array of Volvo vehicles will receive improved engines to up their speed and ability while lowering emissions and improving fuel economy. Many of the 2011 Volvo cars will be powered by diesel engines. Volvo also has created a new way of naming their engines to make designations of power clearer to car buyers.

Volvo is adding onto the engines is many of their cars, specifically the XC60 and XC70. The XC60 Ft. Myers drivers agree, will benefit from this new addition. The addition to these two vehicles has been named the D3, falling in with the new engine designations created by Volvo. Each new designation begins with a D for diesel and then a number to describe the power of the engine. The D3 is a 2 liter diesel engine that allows the XC60 to achieve better fuel economy as well as improved emissions rating. The front wheel drive XC60 now operates at 47.9 miles per gallon fuel efficiency.

An engine addition is also being included on the C30, S40, V50 and C70 models. These models will receive the D3 as well and can be upgraded to a D4. Ft. Myers Volvo S40 drivers are eager to see the performance of the 2011 S40 with the improved engine. The D3 and the D4 have many things in common, the D4 however is capable of 177 PS. The D3 and D4 are both rated at 55.4 miles per gallon fuel efficiency in these vehicles and have improved emissions over their predecessors. The D4 is available in either manual or automatic transmissions.

Volvo automobiles are being updated in other ways as well. All the models will have the best safety systems Volvo has available. The XC60 will include luxurious features such as a great sound system, electric climate control system, and a headlight cleaning system. Volvo is taking great steps to improve their vehicles and demonstrate Volvo is the top name in safety as well as comfort. For more information visit your local XC60 Ft. Myers Volvo dealer.
